Commitments to sustainability & swimwear brands we stock

Made of Water

Made of Water is a small independent wild swimming brand for cold water enthusiasts. Our sustainable swimwear is designed in Cornwall, UK, and handcrafted in Indonesia. Made in a solar-powered facility, we take advantage of nature's power to create your swimsuits and bikinis.

Fabric:

We embrace the use of sustainable fabrics, such as those made with ECONYL® regenerated yarn from nylon waste, that would otherwise pollute the earth. Our swimwear is printed using eco-friendly ink certified by OEKO-TEX®, ensuring it is safe for both people and the planet.

Quality Assurance:

To ensure the utmost quality and performance of our swimwear, we subject each garment to rigorous real-life testing conditions. Our swimwear undergoes comprehensive trials in various saltwater environments, such as the Atlantic Ocean, so we can confidently stand behind the durability and comfort of our products.

Production:

Our small-batch swimwear collections are produced in a manufacturing facility that far exceeds the minimum labour standards in all aspects of operations. Staff are paid well above average, everyone is provided with comprehensive health insurance for themselves and their families, and they are paid an extra month of salary annually. Working hours are limited, and voluntary overtime is compensated.

Social & Environmental Impact:

There’s also a profit-sharing scheme, the workforce is actively involved in decision-making, and worker development is a top priority. While a portion of the facility's proceeds automatically go to grassroots organisations that support the environment, women's access to education, and those in need.

Why Choose Made of Water?

When you choose Made of Water, you are not only opting for high-quality sustainable swimwear that is proven to withstand the test of time, but you’re also supporting manufacturing that strives to make a positive impact on the planet and society.

Winki Suits

Winki is an independent Australian brand that designs functional and playful sea wear. With inspiration drawn from vintage styles and eclectic 70's themed prints.

Fabric:

Winki suits are made using recyclable materials, such as Repreve®, or a buttery 1mm neoprene fabric.

Quality Assurance:

They source the highest quality fabric, meaning the suits can be worn in the salt, the sea, and the sun without loss of colour or stretching!

Production:

Winki swimwear is in limited numbers; they avoid mass-producing and focus on the smaller quantities.

Social & Environmental Impact:

Winki Suits has also partnered with the amazing team at Honor 1000 and their Blessed Project Sewing Program based in the Philippines. The Blessed Project was created to rehabilitate young women who have been rescued from human trafficking. When a young woman is rescued from human trafficking, the road to recovery is a long and challenging one. Most suffer from emotional scarring and brokenness from unimaginable abuse. The Blessed Project aims to support these women by providing housing, love, emotional support, community, education, skill building, and a second chance at life.

One aspect of their rehabilitation is learning the skill of sewing. Trainees will learn this trade as a form of therapy, an opportunity to learn a practical skill, and the ability to earn an income for themselves. The Blessed Project employs two full-time sewers to help train the women, and as a business, Winki pays the monthly wage of one of these full-time sewers.

Why Choose Winki Suits?

Winki suits are ethically made in Sydney, Australia, by a local, family-owned business. Made with purpose, empowering women in Australia and the Philippines through the ethical production of our suits.

SEPTEMBER the Line

SEPTMEBER the Line is an independent women-owned brand that is self-funded with a passion and determination to create modern, sustainable swimwear for all.

Fabric:

SEPTEMBER swimwear is crafted from a luxury Italian fabric made with ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated fibre created from nylon waste that otherwise pollutes the earth.

Quality Assurance:

Thanks to its innovative construction, the fabric has 50 UV protection and is twice as resistant to chlorine, suntan creams, and oils as conventional recycled fabric. We want you to wear our swimsuits for years.

Production:

Our swimsuits are sustainable and manufactured at a female-owned factory in Bali. We knew we found our perfect manufacturing partner when the factory shared that they adhere to the Ethical Trading Initiative: Base Code of Conduct. We believe in small-run production over mass production; quality over quantity.

Social & Environmental Impact:

Most employees have been with the factory for over 20 years. All employees are paid a base living wage, which is 3x higher than the Indonesian minimum wage. In addition, they are paid per piece they sew, given a daily food allowance, and paid overtime for any work completed past 5 pm. We are proud that the factory is owned and run by a full female team. Each operative takes their time to consciously make and sew each SEPTEMBER suit by hand.

We help support the surrounding communities in Bali by keeping our production local. Not only do we contribute to these communities, when you purchase a SEPTEMBER swimsuit, you too add real value to their lives. A purchase with a purpose.

Why Choose SEPTEMBER?

Designed in New York City and tested in Bali. They have evolved to be more - a celebration of movement. Encouraging women to go out into the world and move their bodies, all in the name of finding their meditation. SEPTEMBER offers you a feeling of freedom, a sense of ease when you’re in the sea.
