Combining sustainable swimwear with the spirit of wild swimming

Born out of a love affair with the sea

Made of Water came from a lifetime love affair with the sea and, more recently, cold-water swimming.

Myself and other women getting up at sunrise in the freezing cold depths of winter to find a water source to submerge.

Watching these powerful women brave the elements made me wonder, "Why is this so popular?"

This feeling of being in wild water is free and includes everyone.

It’s an urge to rewild. Reconnect with nature and the source. A chance to cleanse and wash away the day.

Curating a collection of eco-conscious swimwear and apparel

We’re lucky enough to swim along the beautiful Cornish coast — a place that inspires everything we create. That’s why our swimwear is designed to be as kind to the planet as it is to your skin, made with sustainable materials that help protect the waters we love.

We’ve seen a growing movement toward slow living, with more people finding peace and purpose in nature and the ocean. This connection to the wild is at the heart of what we do.

Every piece you see on our website is made for wild swimmers — women of the high seas who swim fiercely all year round. Our roots run deep in the cold Cornish waters, and we swim together in sisterhood and strength.

Extraordinary water women define our brand

Our amazing women are at the heart and soul of Made of Water. They are part of a small group of friends that swim together in the cold, rainy, and freezing conditions of winter in just swimsuits.

We don’t use models on our photo shoots. We use our friends and true water women who really live this life. All beautiful, strong women in different ways.

For those called by the sea

“People always ask me what cold water swimming feels like. And I can never give a definitive answer..

Each time I slip into the water is different and at the same time never changes. There’s always a palpable anticipation before gliding in, coupled with extreme awareness of every sensation.

And then comes withdrawal; withdrawal from the influences of the outside world as the only moment that matters is this very one.

Where my skin burns warm with cold. But it’s not about the cold water. It’s about taking back control. It's the growth of a fierce self love borne from knowing I can do hard things.

Most of all it’s connection to the wild elements.”
